Psalms 13: 3, 5-6

-Jesus is our refuge.

-You do not have to carry the weight of your burdens.

-Emotions are ok.

If you’re new to exploring your faith, you may be thinking you’re about to enter a path of sunshine and rainbows, where nothing is a worry. The world is perfect and you’re just happy all the time. But, that is just not what the Bible teaches.

The truth is, you are human. You have emotions and feelings, and they’re real. They can effect the way you feel emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and even physically. Does that make you disqualified to be a follower of Christ? Absolutely not. If anything is proves even more, why you are in need of a Savior. There is just some hardships on this earth, that you are not meant to carry the weight of.

A perfect example of hardship in the bible is King David. He has experienced severe hardship but also the joys and wonders of being in relationship with God. What he experienced is not so important right now, but how he responds.

“Lord my God, look at me and give me an answer. Make me feel strong again, or I will die. But I trust in your faithful love, Lord. I will be happy when you save me. Then I will sing to the Lord because he was so good to me.”
Psalms 13:3, 5-6 ERV

King David shows how in hardship we can look to the Lord for strength. He is our refuge and will provide courage because He is faithful. He is good all the time. Being a Christian is not about who we are, but about who Jesus is.
